In a similar situation to Nketiah but at the other end of the spectrum, Arsenal do not have to make a decision regarding the future of Alexandre Lacazette this summer, but they should.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Like with Aubameyang last summer, if the club intends to keep Lacazette throughout the Mikel Arteta rebuild, they should thrash out a new deal in the immediate future. Their negotiating power depreciates with every passing second, which will only increase Lacazette’s wage, and they do not want to be forced into a rash decision.

Similarly, should Arteta decide that Lacazette will not be a part of his project, which is highly likely given that Lacazette will be 29 in May, has struggled for peak form this season, and has been linked with an exit, Arsenal should not wait to sell.

Instead of getting themselves into a bind and either paying top-dollar on a new contract or selling on the cheap or even for free in two years. Either avenue is less beneficial than what they could enact this summer.
