Arsenal: 3 transfer ideas even worse than Willian
By Josh Sippie
2. Chris Smalling
The jester of the transfer circus, and yet no one will strike the rumor down. How Arsene Wenger and Mikel Arteta are both fans of Smalling, I will never know, but somehow they are and, somehow, Arsenal are linked to the 30-year-old centerback yet again. The Manchester United man, on loan at Roma, has impressed in Serie A. And no one can deny that we need defensive help.

But not the kind of help that looks like Smalling. This is the problem—he hasn’t cut it at United. He really never has. Ask any United fan, if you can stand them, which most normal people can’t. Smalling is not cut out for the Premier League, hence why he isn’t there now.
He was sent to Serie A. Where he will probably remain.
What makes this even worse is that Smalling will supposedly cost something like £30m in order to be acquired. Which is just a heaping smear of feces on the window, isn’t it? So we’re spending far too much money on a centerback who’s too old and who’s never been able to cut it in the Premier League.
Makes total sense, right? Let’s keep rolling with No. 1.
