Arsenal: 3 reasons Willian Saliba the only centerback we need

1. Baptism by fire

This piggybacks on the last slide. We spent money on Saliba, and to spend money on someone else could potentially land Saliba on the bench. Where all that money would be going to a slight waste. Rather, why don’t we do another classic baptism by fire?

Saliba is still young, he’s coming over from Ligue 1, so that may strike some as a risky endeavor to toss into the starting XI, but who is going to deny that Saliba is incredibly talented and needs to grow into the role anyway? The sooner we stick him in there, the better.

Plus, and I keep referencing him for a reason, David Luiz is an excellent mentor to have alongside. He’s won everything, he’s a demonstrative presence, he’s outspoken, he’s got all the makings of a perfect partner to Luiz.

Saliba is the future of the defense and we want the future now. So trust him and let the rest of our stock fill in everything else.
