1. Sold for £50-plus million

Arsenal’s best option, and even this is not an ideal option, such is the difficulty of the position they have put themselves in, is to sell Aubameyang and sell Aubameyang high.

While offloading your club captain and top goalscorer is never ideal, as Liverpool provided with Philippe Coutinho, selling high and reinvesting the money smartly is a great way to assemble a team in rebuild, as Arsenal are under Arteta.

Soon to be 31, Aubameyang is not going to be a part of the Arsenal team for the next three-plus years. But that is the timeframe that Arteta is working towards, slowly building a team that can compete at the elite level. It will take several years and transfer windows to do so. Kickstarting the process with a £50-plus million injection of cash would certainly go a long way.
