1. Stefan de Vrij

Depending on who you ask (and what day you ask it), the No. 1 need at Arsenal is at centerback. Sure, they’re getting William Saliba, and Calum Chambers is due back before next season, and David Luiz is definitely a legitimate immediate solution, we could always use for more sturdy centerback options. If they have versatility to play more positions, all the better.

Stefan de Vrij has all of that, and he’s been linked to move to the Emirates before. He’s surpassed that initial hype period, however, and settled into a pretty nice routine of just being one of the really great defenders out there.

Whatever you think of the Gunners current and future defensive prospects, Stefan de Vrij is a valuable installment to grow this defense both now and for years to come.

At 28-years-old, he isn’t a play for the long-haul, but he is a play to aid this defense in the immediacy while still keeping an eye on the next few years to come.

There’s a reason why he’s been linked for so long. It’s never too late to get this deal done.
