Arsenal: Top 3 players who have defining year ahead of them
1. Hector Bellerin
Hector Bellerin has the tools to be one of the best right-backs in world football. Phenomenally fast, extremely athletic, great stamina, comfortable on the ball, good on one-on-one situations, capable of providing assists and creating chances. He has everything you would want. He just needs to maintain his fitness.
Bellerin made his return from an ACL tear this season. He then tore his hamstring and missed another two months before finally returning in January. But even then, he performed through a groin problem that prevented him from playing with the same freedom as before, which is a crucial element of his overall game.
Over the past four seasons, Bellerin has either played through injury, missed significant time with an injury, or both at different periods. At some point, Arsenal must admit that he will never be able to stay fit and become a reliable starting option who plays north of 30 league games every season.
The Spaniard only just turned 25. He still has time on his side. But if he cannot play through the entirety of next season at a consistent level, Arsenal will need to look for a replacement. They cannot keep waiting.
