Arsenal: 3 curveball sales to raise some cash
1. Matteo Guendouzi
Matteo Guendouzi is one of the most talented young footballers in the world. Still only 21, he has produced individual displays that few even experienced starters could dream of. Certainly, very few Arsenal players have hit the heights that Guendouzi has.
However, the Frenchman has two years to run on his contract, does not suit Arteta’s more stringent approach to central midfield, his bombastic running extremely impactful but sometimes unhinging of the needed structure in the team, and could be a mighty asset to offload.
Many will be hesitant to see Guendouzi sold, but if he is unwilling to sign a new contract and the suitors are lining up to take him as they have been previously, the Gunners might be better off selling for a handsome fee and using that money to sign a more polished replacement.
Guendouzi, like Maitland-Niles, will need to adapt to Arteta. If he doesn’t, Arsenal might sell, and it could raise quite the bidding war.
