Arsenal: 3 immediately viable transfer solutions from Ligue 1
By Josh Sippie
2. Houssem Aouar
I was one of the first people to naysay this rumor when it first arrived. I do not like the idea of trusting him as a straight central midfielder, or as a midfield pivot, because his ball security and physical ability just isn’t where it needs to be to be an immediate midfield solution.
That said, if Mikel Arteta is insistent on using a No. 10, then Houssem Aouar becomes an immediate solution for a couple of reasons. First of all, because it would be better than Mesut Ozil. We need to move on from Ozil and getting younger and more exciting with Aouar taking charge in the midfield.
Not just that, but if he doesn’t work out at No. 10, or if Arteta phases out the No. 10, then Aouar can transition into a central midfield role like Dani Ceballos. He wouldn’t have to master this position right away, but having that growth potential would be an attractive option.
In terms of immediate solution though, he’s gotta be at No. 10. Otherwise, I’m not having it.
No. 1 is next.
