Arsenal have plenty of players they should be looking to offload this summer. Among the many names, here are the top three must-sell players.

Arsenal have work to do to rebuild the squad ahead of the Mikel Arteta era. But before they can get to filling out the team with new signings and talent, they must first make room, both financially and in the squad. That means selling, and with the current crop of overpaid underperformers, the Gunners have a lot of work to do.

So, here are the top three must-sell players that Arsenal should be looking to offload this summer.

Arsenal have eight centre-backs on their books. They will, of course, look to sell at least two if not as many as four by the time the window is over with another likely be added to join William Saliba as the future of the position. Shkodran Mustafi represents the ideal centre-back to offload — bar one, who we will get to.

The German has performed better under Arteta, it should be said, but he is still extremely error-prone — there is little reason to think that he has rid that weakness from his game and is instead enjoying a rich vein of form — is not the answer at the position that Arteta requires and will slip to fifth or even sixth-choice behind William Saliba and any combination or all of Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers and Rob Holding, plus a new signing still expected to arrive.

Most pertinently, however, Mustafi will enter the final year of a contract that pays him £90,000 per week. That is the type of money a regular and strong starter should be making. Not an error-prone centre-back who might rarely feature. Time to sell for whatever the club can get.
