1. Henrikh Mkhitaryan

While Sokratis and Mustafi are a long way down the pecking order at centre-back and are a large strain on resources, also offering little long-term value to the Arteta project that will be years in the making, their uselessness pales in comparison to Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Mkhitaryan is not even at Arsenal at present, spending the year on loan at Roma. He is already 31, signed a contract worth reportedly as much as £200,000 per week, and has been disastrous whenever started. There is a reason he was shipped out on loan.

Add in the developments that many of the young players have made in the wide positions, especially Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli and you have a player who is old, earning an extortionate amount that the club cannot afford, and would only either take up opportunities that should be given to young players to aid their development or sit on the bench behind them, neither of which is helpful in any way.
