2. Evan Ndicka

Evan Ndicka was a later arrival to the stream of Bundesliga transfer targets that Arsenal was tied to. First came Jonathan Tah, years ago, then came Dayot Upamecano, but when the financial constraints were too much to bear, Evan Ndicka arrived as a very real, very plausible solution to not just the centerback situation, but the potential leftback situation as well.

Ndicka suits up for the strangely thrilling Eintracht Frankfurt, but what makes watching him exciting is that he splits time fairly evenly between leftback and centerback, two positions that Arsenal need—one more than the other—in the coming transfer window.

Ndicka has proven himself capable at both. Startlingly capable at both. He has two assists as a leftback and one goal as a centerback and his defensive actions remain pretty consistent across the board.

With a price tag around the £20m-ish mark, he is a much easier target to wrap the head around. He can cover if we sell a leftback, he can cover no matter what happens at centerback. He’s young, he’s got tons of time and talent. Not much not to like.

Lastly, No. 1.
