4. Bukayo Saka

It remains to be seen where Bukayo Saka will settle as a first-team option. The teenager has filled in at left-back under Arteta with both Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney resigned to the sidelines through injury but is more naturally suited to a wide attacking role. Nevertheless, if he plays as he has done in recent months, it won’t really matter.

While most of the players on this list will save Arsenal money by being a very specific solution to a very specific problem that would otherwise cost significant amounts to fix, Saka saves the club money by simply being special. There might not be a young player in the squad who has a higher ceiling than the 18-year-old. If he reaches that, he will be one of the best players in the Premier League, no matter what position he plays.

For now, Saka will try his hand at left-wing. This is where he spent the majority of his youth career, and the left-back role he has played for the first team has been amended to accentuate his attacking skill set and reduce his defensive responsibility. He could be the long-term replacement for Aubameyang. He could even switch sides and put pressure on Nicolas Pepe. Or he could remain at left-back in competition with Tierney. In any of these roles, he has the ability to be special, and that is a real money-saver.
