1. Matteo Guendouzi

Matteo Guendouzi might be the most talented player in the Arsenal squad. If anyone in the squad was to become the best player in the world at their respective position over the next decade, I would guess it would be Guendouzi. That is how hugely gifted he is, even if his performances are a little inconsistent and need fine-tuning.

However, Guendouzi’s contract also expires in two years’ time. Mikel Arteta, like with Lacazette, must determine whether Guendouzi will be a crucial part of his long-term project or not. Because if he isn’t, Arsenal should sell.

If Arteta is not as enamoured with Guendouzi as others at the club are, the Frenchman’s value will never be higher. He will not play regularly next season as Arteta uses other players instead of him, with every passing day that his contract expiration nears, his price slides, while Guendouzi can threaten to walk out of the door for nothing in two years.

Arsenal have plenty of needs to fill. They need to be smart in their recruitment. They also need to raise their own funds. If Guendouzi is to be a solution under Arteta, Arsenal must tie him down. If he isn’t, perhaps his sale can buy one or two other solutions.
