Arsenal has had a transfer blast from the past, as they’re linked to Thomas Lemar, so let’s weigh the pros and cons of a potential swap.

Thomas Lemar has again been linked with Arsenal. Three years ago, the player we were willing to pay £90m for as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez has this week been mentioned as the player included in a potential swap deal for Alexandre Lacazette.

I forgot Thomas Lemar even existed. Such has been his fall from grace at Atletico Madrid and its easy to forget that he was once touted as one of France’s most exciting attackers in a team that included Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva.

This is a deal that is likely to be debated by many an Arsenal fan especially when we are heavily linked to another Atletico Madrid player in Thomas Partey. There are plus and negative points to any potential move to Thomas Lemar and here we look at what these are.

Arsenal and Thomas Lemar, weighed by pros and cons

We’ll start with the pros.

Pros

As I said three years ago, Thomas Lemar was mentioned as one of France’s best attackers and the fact that we were willing to pay over £90m for him says a lot about the potential of him at the time.

Because he has dropped off the grid at Atletico Madrid—does that make him a bad player?

More on the pros, coming up next.
