Arsenal: 3 improvements Reiss Nelson must make to regain relevance
By Josh Sippie
1. Health
This isn’t really an improvement that Reiss Nelson can consciously make himself, but more of an improvement that just has to happen in the span of his career if he isn’t going to fall into the always tragic “what if” category.
This year, Nelson would have had plenty of opportunities to get into the action more frequently, both under Unai Emery and under Mikel Arteta, but within a couple appearances, he gets hurt and has to disappear and return to the recovery path while so many talented players get to continue strutting their stuff on the pitch.
Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Nicolas Pepe are all players capable of keeping a healthy Reiss Nelson out, so if he wants to have any hope whatsoever, he needs to get back into a consistent string of health to start reminding coach and fans alike why he used to be the guy to move this attack forward. He was at the club before we had any wingers. He’s the OG.
But none of that matters if he can’t stay healthy. The talent is there, the desire to learn is there, he just has to be able to exercise it.
