2. It is bloody exciting

This has been Arsenal’s worst season since Arsene Wenger was hired as manager. They slipped into the bottom half of the table, crashed out of the Europa League, face a difficult task to win a trophy in the FA Cup, and could miss out on European football altogether ahead of next season.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

They also had to replace their manager, restructure the squad, and are now dealing with previously unseen financial hardships after already struggling to deal with a bloating wage bill and reduced revenue following a lack of Champions League and general success on the pitch. It has not been a fun season, to say the least.

The most exciting aspect of Arsenal’s season thus far has been the performances of their young players. They are almost the sole positive from the entire campaign. Their development. The excitement of their future. Their effervescence and energy and youthful vibrance. It has been wonderful to watch.

Now imagine seeing these players behind the heartbeat of the team. The front line consisting of Reiss Nelson, Martinelli and Nketiah. Guendouzi and Emile Smith Rowe starting in midfield. William Saliba arriving at centre-back. If nothing else, that is exciting, and God knows that Arsenal need some excitement.
