Arsenal: 3 improvements Joe Willock must make to reach next level
By Josh Sippie
1. Threat to goal
The most important need, as well as the one that is looking to be closest to being there. Willock has proven that he can score goals, sometimes some pretty swanky goals too. He’s got a good eye for the back of the net and despite what I said about him needing more intelligent movement, you can see he has a good mind for making intelligent runs into the box.
It’s led to the promise of more goals to come. Even this year he has four goals between the Europa League and the League Cup which, while not dazzling, is a promising return from a player that doesn’t yet have a set position and isn’t featuring a whole lot.
The more he can produce that threat to goal, the better the likelihood that he is a real solution. The kind of solution this midfield needs.
When we sold Aaron Ramsey, many pointed to Joe Willock as the next in line to be that midfielder. Needless to say you need a significant and reliable threat to goal to follow up on that acclaim.
