Arsenal: 3 improvements Bukayo Saka must make
By Josh Sippie
2. Decision-making
This is the most typical issue that will face any talented youngster and Bukayo Saka is no exception. While he did look borderline perfect in his early days in the first team, the more he played, the more we saw suspect decision-making when he’d play a pass horribly wrong and give the opposition a golden chance at goal. Or his complete disregard for positional responsibilities, tracking into the midfield, staying further up the pitch, etc.
Again, it’s part of being young. He’s eager to cover as much ground as he can and sometimes that means getting pulled away from where he should be in order to chase the ball, or push the attack.
The more he plays, the more he will understand what does and doesn’t work. Those panicked passes that end up with the opposition will disappear as he acclimates to the speed of the game in England. He’ll build more of a rapport with his teammates and develop an understanding of what they are and aren’t capable of and that, too, will help him make better decisions.
So… no gaping flaws. Just a lot of growth needed.
