2. Goals!

Is there anything that the Gunners lack more right now than goals from the midfield? It’s just not a good situation. Of their midfielders, Mesut Ozil and Lucas Torreira are tied for the most goals with one. Sokratis has more goals than that.

And on the assist side, Mesut Ozil and Dani Ceballos are tied for first on the team with—wait for it—two. Bukayo Saka has more assists than that.

There is a goal crisis in this midfield, and Matt Smith has the nose for goal that none of our current midfielders apparently have. He racked up five goals and fourteen assists last season with the U18s—a sick figure—and this year, despite not working his way into a regular starting job just yet, he’s added another three goals and an assist.

Keep in mind that that three goals and one assist tally would place him as the best on the team, if he could translate it to a senior level.

So yeah, dude can produce goals. Just like Saka can.

Speaking of which, No. 1.
