2. Golden Boot race

Last year’s big consolation prize was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang coming away with a share of the Golden Boot award. It had been so long since Arsenal had someone capable of scoring enough goals to be among the best and it was a thrill right to the end. Especially considering he should have taken the award on a sole lead if only he’d finished that goal! You know, that one.

This year, Aubameyang is right back in it. With 17 goals, he is in second place behind Jamie Vardy, but Aubameyang has that game in hand as well.

Behind him, Salah and Aguero are tied at 16. Meaning that this matchup isn’t just a clash of titans at two different stages of reinvention, it isn’t just the return of football, it’s also part of the dead heat to see who will finish the season with the most goals.

While Aubameyang may well be leaving at the end of the year, no one would ever question his service to the club. It’s now looking like in two full years at the club, he’ll win the Golden Boot twice. Hard to do much better than that.

Lastly, No. 1.
