Arsenal: 3 reasons Kieran Tierney could actually be sold

Kieran Tierney has yet to really feature at Arsenal, and that’s why cashing in now might not be the craziest idea Mikel Arteta comes up with.

You can’t stop transfer rumors, and as Arsenal fans, we should know that by now. So it’s always a bit of a smash and grab deciding which transfer rumors to cover and which not to. One of the most interesting ones, and easily one of the most befuddling ones, is the report that Leicester City could be swooping to purchase Kieran Tierney.

Normally, this isn’t the kind of rumor that I’d give any attention to, but there have been coinciding moves being talked about around the Emirates that lend a bit of credence to the rumor, although I don’t want to jump the gun and say outright that he will be sold.

For starters, and I guess call this an honorable mention, he just didn’t play this year. So it’s not like we’d be missing what we never had. And if he can get a decent price in the market, it’s not outlandish to consider letting go of a guy who has only played 300 Premier League minutes.

A lot of that—most of it, really—was down to injury problems, but whatever the case, we never really experienced what he was like and had to do without him, which gave rise to Bukayo Saka and Sead Kolasinac as the leftback duo.

Anyway, onward with the three reasons why Tierney could actually be sold this summer. We start with No. 3.

3. Cash in

At just 23-years-old and still highly regarded, the Gunners could be looking at a decent payday if they decide to put Kieran Tierney on the market. Not just that, but since this club desperately needs money to spend this summer, and since there are better, cheaper options available. cashing in, even at the same price paid for him, may make since to frugal Mikel Arteta, who, as we will see with No. 2 on this list, can find solutions elsewhere.
