3. Reiss Nelson and Kieran Tierney look sharp as knives

Coming off the back of a 6-0 win, it would’ve been very easy for Arsenal to rest on their laurels, with the expectation of another easy win against Brentford. While that win didn’t come, the Englishman and the Scot did nothing of the sort in the days leading up.

Tierney’s dribbles looked really sharp, and his passing was pinpoint. He and Pablo Mari formed a very consistent backline, with their team scoring a majority of the goals in the 11-a-side skirmish, and conceding very few to the combined firepower of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe, a potent combination.

And Reiss Nelson was by far the sharpest player on the pitch. His constant darting runs and direct dribbles gave his opposition no end of trouble, and he scored and assisted with ease. He tracked back, harried and harassed, and generally made a nuisance of himself on both sides of the ball.

Compared to Pepe, who made very few successful challenges, and lost possession a number of times, Nelson has put himself in a very favorable position. It’s not every day you get the chance to work the socks off Arsenal’s record signing and win, but that’s what Reiss Nelson looked like in training. A winner. And that’s what the Gunner need, if they’re to retake their top-four throne anytime in the near future.

Speaking of winners, on to Number 2.
