At least, that’s where Arteta sees him. In the training film, Aubameyang goes through a number of finishing drills, all of which are based around cutting in from the left side and finishing. It’s clear that Arteta is content to feature others at center-forward, and place the goal-scoring Gabonese out on the wing, but with the clear intent to keep him in striking form, and cutting inside to do so.

That intent features in his tactical system pre-lockdown. The left-back overlapping heavily, with Granit Xhaka sliding into the half-space to cover, and the number 10 providing much of the creative impetus in his stead. Mikel Arteta has a clear view for this team, and that’s a major positive heading into the restart.
