Fullbacks

I think it’s finally here. The moment we’ve all been waiting for. Or rather, the beginning of what we’ve been waiting for. At the start of this season, I think everyone felt pretty confident in our fullback situation. I know I, for one, was saying that of every position on the pitch, nothing was more stable than our fullback corps.

With Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles splitting time at rightback and Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney splitting time at leftback, nothing could go wrong.

Only everything did.

Now, with Cedric Soares added to the picture, Arteta has some minor decisions to make, but with the full complement of health that we’re led to believe he has, it’s time for Bellerin and Tierney to join their powers and form Captain Planet or something.

This is the fullback duo we’ve been dreaming of and it’s not been allowed to become the prominent piece of Arsenal’s fortunes that we wanted. That changes now.

On to the midfield.
