Centre-Backs

7.0. A very encouraging performance from Holding. Made more headed clearances than any other player on the pitch, moved the ball much quicker when in possession, which was an issue at the weekend, and looked more assured in his defending as if he is gaining confidence with more minutes. Still looks a little slow at times, but with Arsenal playing a deep line in the second half, he was more than comfortable marshalling play.. CB. Arsenal. ROB HOLDING

6.5. Struggled in the first half from the initial minutes when his poor touch and lunge gave him a yellow card. That seeped into unconvincing defending. Improved substantially after the break as Arsenal sat deeper. He and Holding dealt with Southampton’s attacking pressure well and bar one or two moments when Shane Long got free late on, Mustafi was solid enough.. CB. Arsenal. SHKODRAN MUSTAFI
