Front Three

Quiet from Nicolas Pepe. Dribbled past Ryan Bertran on one occasion but squandered several good opportunities to break forwards. One moment was especially poor: his overhit pass to Nketuah left the striker stretching for the ball. His prodded pass/shot was equally as poor, but Pepe must be more precise in the final third. Had just 18 touches of the ball, which is not nearly enough.. RW. Arsenal. NICOLAS PEPE. 5.0

LW. Arsenal. PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG. 7.0. Leads by example superbly. Tracks back, presses high, runs miles. Offensively, Aubameyang did not provide as much as the openings he worked for himself suggested he should have. His crashing shot against the crossbar was his best moment, though have pulled the ball back for Nketiah. He then failed to slide Nketiah through in the second half with a poor pass and couldn’t find Lacazette late on from a similar position. But for the poor final balls, his movement was supreme once again. Arsenal simply have to keep feeding him.

Arsenal. EDDIE NKETIAH. 7.0. Worked tirelessly throughout, which was most evident in his goal. Closed down Alex McCarthy, forced a terrible error, which he very nearly did on several other occasions throughout the match, and walked the ball into the empty net. His hold-up play was inconsistent at times and he made several curious decisions on the counter-attack. Nevertheless, looked lively and worked hard.. ST

There are no ratings for the substitutes, though Joe Willock showed good enterprise and nous to turn in Alexandre Lacazette’s rebounded shot for the second goal.
