Midfield

Here’s an area that has a lot of options, but none that Arteta is likely to take. Technically, Joe Willock and Maitland-Niles should both be in the conversation, but that’s not likely. Matteo Guendouzi should also be considered, but Arteta just doesn’t jive with the young Frenchman.

Torreira is supposedly injured, but he was never likely to be included either.

Therefore, by process of elimination, it’s going to be Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos, paired together again like they were before the pause. It was a killer combo, though, so there’s no reason not to feel secure in this pairing.

Especially with Ceballos likely feeling a wave of momentum after that late goal against Sheffield and Xhaka inching his way back to being back to his full complement of health since his injury.

This is a midfield with a ton of potential, but even if they produce some kind of foundation, they should be able to do the job just fine.

Lastly, our attack.
