Centre-Backs

CB. Arsenal. SHKODRAN MUSTAFI. 3.0. Hauled off at half-time. Taking just the first 45 minutes, he had a 78% pass completion rate, the second-worst in the team and 15 and 16% worse than the other centre-backs,10.3% of the possession, which was almost 2.5% more than any other player on the pitch, a sign of how slow he was to release the ball, and was by far the worst performer in the team. This was Mustafi at his worst and Arteta rightly substituted him.

6.5. Looks much more comfortable in a back three. Played one especially loose header in the first half. Otherwise, controlled play nicely and sprayed a couple of beautiful long passes. His raking ball to Tierney set up Arsenal’s second goal, representing a crucial piece of play that Mikel Arteta demands from his centre-backs.. CB. Arsenal. DAVID LUIZ

Arsenal. SEAD KOLASINAC. 5.0. Moved the ball a little quicker than Mustafi on the opposite side but is still extremely clunky and does not offer much in possession. Defensively, was caught out a couple of times, including once by Todd Cantwell that could have been a soft penalty. Limited value on the ball, never especially convincing defensively. Difficult to know what he offers.. CB
