Front Three

A tidy performance from Nelson. Delivered a lovely cutback for Lacazette after turning a defender inside-out from a short corner. Maintained a 100% pass completion rate in the first half and looked neat in possession, rarely losing the ball. Didn’t quite impact the match as he would have liked, but showed terrific focus and organisation when pressing. Perhaps disappointed to be withdrawn before the hour mark.. RW. Arsenal. REISS NELSON. 6.5

LW. Arsenal. PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG. 7.5. You could say that Aubameyang got a little lucky to be gift-wrapped his two goals. And to some extent, that is true. But he also lives off the pressure that he puts on opposing defenders. His work-rate, superb movement, and consistent goal-threat makes him a nightmare to defend against and opponents can never switch off. That inevitably leads to errors, and when they come, Aubameyang pounces. Two goals and an assist. Very good work indeed.

ST. Arsenal. ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE. 5.5. Lacking in confidence in front of goal. It was most evident when Aubameyang played a clipped cross to the back post. Instead of attempt a first-time volley, he pulled the ball back, which eventually fell to Willock. His hold-up play is still exquisite, dropping into midfield with brilliant effect. That should not go overlooked. But his play in front of goal is troubling, to say the least.
