Arsenal vs Leicester City predicted XI: Moving on up

Arsenal will be looking to keep the momentum moving forward as they face up third-place Leicester City. Here’s how they could line up.

A 2-0 win against Wolverhampton after a lackluster restart to the season has propped Arsenal up in good spirits. It was arguably Mikel Arteta‘s best performance of the season and was powered by a complete, comprehensive team effort that saw no man left behind.

It also allowed the Gunners to stick to their 7th place position, just three points behind Wolves and six points behind Manchester United. With only a few matches left in the season, the opportunity is still there, even if we need a little help to achieve a continued rise up the table.

Next up is Leicester City, sitting a comfortable nine points up on the Gunners in 3rd place. Of course, a win against them would claw us up six points behind the Foxes and potentially above Wolverhampton if Sheffield can defeat the Wolves.

There’s still a lot that needs to go right every week in order for us to make any progress. There’s no hiding from how much that loss to Brighton hurt. We would already be above Wolves. But what’s done is done and all we can do is look forward. So let’s consider what might happen against Leicester City.

Given the incredible defensive effort against Wolves, Arteta has to be feeling pretty good about his choices, and for that reason, we’re likely to stay with the 3-4-3 until proven otherwise. There was such solidity and such confidence from this formation as a unit that I don’t think there will be that many changes, but there will be enough to make a little spark of a difference—hopefully.

Of course, we still have the usual array of injuries. Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bernd Leno are all out for the foreseeable future. And with that in mind, let’s dig into the starting XI, starting in goal.

Keeper

Emiliano Martinez has made such a strong case for himself it’s incredible. There hasn’t been a single mistake on his side of things and there have been plenty of opportunities for him to make one. This man is a No. 1 keeper, no doubt. Now the trick is keeping him when Leno comes back.
