1. What’s happened to Dani Ceballo?

Up until recently, Dani Ceballos was heading back to Real Madrid and would have been looking back on a disappointing Arsenal loan. There weren’t many of us who could say we would miss him.

But from out of nowhere, he’s suddenly looking like a completely different player and looking more like the player who was once so highly thought of in Madrid.

Immense against Norwich with his passing, movement, and providing a constant link between attack and defense, he was again superb against Leicester with his sublime pass to set up Saka for the opener.

So what’s happened to Dani Ceballos? It certainly hasn’t been the easiest loan spell for Ceballos. In and out of the squad under Emery, played in different positions, injured, and for a period he looked like he didn’t have a place in the team under Arteta either.

Now, over the last three games, he’s looked like the kind of player our midfield has been missing all season, and currently, he looks like the perfect midfield partner for Granit Xhaka. With the end of the season approaching, he could be putting himself in the shop window for a transfer elsewhere and showing Real Madrid what they are missing.

Or it could easily be that we have had this type of player all along and it’s taken till now to finally get it out of him. Mikel Arteta has said he is a fan of Ceballos and wouldn’t be against keeping him at the club next season.
