Arsenal vs Tottenham: 5 key players in North London Derby
By Josh Sippie
3. Shkodran Mustafi
Everything that I just said about David Luiz can also be applied to Shkodran Mustafi. But more so than Luiz, Mustafi is key because he has been such a key player throughout the restart and going on back to the start of the Arteta era.
In short, he has become a tremendous and reliable defender and we need him to keep that going, since he is all of a sudden our best defender.
Sure, Mustafi and Son and Lo Celso are all floppers, but they do have undeniable skill that you can’t just ignore, and Mustafi will be facing some if not all of these guys regularly. He handled Jamie Vardy well for about 97 minutes, slacking for about 15 seconds to allow in that goal.
But Mustafi has a history of pocketing opposing team’s key men. Even tracing back to his troubled days when everyone doubted him.
Now that he’s improved so much, we need him more than ever. We need him to lock down this Spurs attack and make them look emasculated. Honestly, it’s not that hard. Everton did it.
On to No. 2.
