2. Dominik Szoboszlai

If you knew little about Emi Buendia, it is likely you will know even less about Dominik Szoboszlai. Unless, of course, you’re Hungarian or Austrian. At 19 years old, the RB Salzburg midfielder is Hungary’s star and has been tearing up the Austrian first division this season in spite of the departures of Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

The teenager has a preference for playing on the left side and has spent time in both the left-wing and left centre-midfield positions this season. So, the Hungarian would be capable of playing in not one but two positions within the 4-3-3 formation that Mikel Arteta will likely be looking to deploy in the near future.

And unlike Buendia, the youngster does not only offer a creative threat. This season, he has delivered a brilliant 19 goal contributions from 27 starts. Nine of those are goals. A proper modern-day playmaker, but with goals to boot. That is a rare combination.

Up until a week ago, a move to AC Milan looked all but completed for the Hungarian. However, after Ralf Rangnick’s move to the Italian giants fell through, so did Szoboslai’s. Szoboszlai has a release clause of just £24 million and, while the step up from Austrian to English league football is giant, he could very well hit the ground running considering how good he’s been for Salzburg this season. Certainly one to keep an eye on.
