Wing-Backs & Midfielders

Elneny has been solid for Arsenal

Hector Bellerin (RWB) – One of the more solid players in the squad since Arteta took charge, he’s never not going to play, is he?

Cedric is a solid backup right-back for me. Does the simple stuff well without ever excelling, whereas Bellerin offers a great deal for tactical versatility in the wing-back role. Of late he’s started looking better with the ball at this feet, especially when attacking those inside channels.

Mohamed Elneny (CM) – Here’s the change I think Arteta will opt for. Knowing that Sheffield United need getting at and bodies have to be patrolling the penalty box, I can see him leaving Granit Xhaka out – he needs a rest anyway – and putting Elneny in as the deepest midfielder.

With more mobility in that area, the idea will be to bypass the three central midfielders and open up the spaces in behind. Elneny can do that more than Xhaka.

Dani Ceballos (CM) – It’ll be nice to see Ceballos get a bit more freedom on Sunday. That said, when the pair play together in the centre of the park, they tend to interchange a lot with who sits deepest. Arteta may look to switch that around and give the Spaniard more license to roam against a rigid Blades setup. He was declared fit by the club to play at the Emirates.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (LWB) – I’d like Bukayo Saka to start on Sunday. I think everyone would. Barring the captain, he’s our most exciting forward. Not only is he the most enjoyable to watch, but he has more affect on proceedings than his fellow attacking teammates. We’re extremely lucky to have him.

Sadly, however, given the cramp he suffered and the amount of ground he covered at Anfield, he could be an impact substitute for this one; therefore, Maitland-Niles will likely get the nod. Hopefully he has a penalty to take.
