Arsenal’s nemesis, Jamie Vardy will be fit for Sunday.

The man who has forever tormented Arsenal will be fit again – it feels like every club’s best player always recover in time to face us – for Sunday’s clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed he won’t be available for the Foxes’ own midweek European excursions but is set to magically reappear in the squad for the weekend.

Working on the basis he will start, he will pose a different kind of problem for Mikel Arteta’s team compared to that they’ve faced so far this season. The Spanish boss has insisted that it be his side who control matches and force others to adapt accordingly, but against a player of his raw pace and clinical finishing ability Arsenal can’t be unscholarly.

At the back there will need to be a balance struck between both flanks when in possession. Keeping the spaces tight between full-back and centre-back in the case of turnovers in any position on the pitch are essential. A one up, one down policy will need to be put in place. Of course, the other alternative is simply to never lose the ball.

Youri Tielemans is excellent at feeding passes into tight spaces, both through gaps and over them; suffocating that area of the pitch may be crucial to claiming three points. However, you can prepare and practice until the cows come home about how to defend against Vardy, but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admire excellent strikers.

He’s played ten games against Arsenal, scoring ten times and assisting once. Vardy has scored more goals against the Gunners than any other opponent. Should be a fun Sunday!

However, there is good news for Arteta.

Leicester are beset with injuries in defensive positions, being forced to thrust Wesley Fofana for his first start in the recent defeat to Aston Villa. Alongside Jonny Evans, who himself only just returned from injury, that’s about all they’ve got. Indeed, last season’s Team of the Season defender Caglar Soyuncu has been ruled out for three months.

A mountain of a defender who’s technically sound, he had Alexandre Lacazette pocketed when the sides met in the league at the King Power last season.

Arsenal's 4-3-3. dark. Next

Positives and negatives, but Vardy’s return definitely outweighs their defensive issues. Why? He always scores against Arsenal.
