From Vienna to north London, it’s matchday six of the Premier League.

Fresh off the back of a comeback win against Rapid Vienna, Arsenal have but a few days’ rest before returning to home comforts for the visit of Leicester on Sunday evening.

Funnily enough, there were parts of the 2-1 win at the Allianz Stadion that were oh so pleasant to watch, but remove those facets and the rest of it was mostly unimaginative.

The first point is obviously the full debut of Thomas Partey who, and we won’t get too carried away here, is the single greatest player ever to walk the earth.

Damn. Did get carried away. Sorry.

But in all seriousness, it’s been quite some time since Arsenal have bore witness to a player’s first start where we’ve come away as impressed as that. He was mostly faultless, with every fibre of his being custom made to play Premier League football. With Gabriel behind him – who was once again magnificent – there is two thirds of an indulgent, steely spine that will do wonders for Arsenal in the coming years.

In terms of the performance…well, it left plenty to be desired until a double change from Mikel Arteta altered the flow of the game, where spaces were found better and attacks offered far more potency.

While you can, to an extent, get away with a performance like that against the likes of Rapid Vienna, such liberties can’t be taken against the Foxes. After all, they have Jamie Vardy. That Pain in the Arsenal (see what we did there?).

Here’s your preview for Sunday’s clash at the Emirates Stadium.

It still looks like being too soon for Pablo and Calum Chambers to return to the fold at Arsenal, despite the central defensive pair recovering well from their respective injuries and starting to train in some capacity.

Elsewhere in defence, Rob Holding will miss crucial matches, including Sunday’s, after sustaining a hamstring injury in the build-up to the Manchester City clash in the most recent round of Premier League fixtures. He is expected to miss between three and four weeks of action.

Shkodran Mustafi, however, is available for selection.

What we could well see is a full Premier League debut for Thomas Partey, who played just ten minutes of the recent defeat at the Etihad Stadium as a substitute before the full 90 in midweek. His home bow is one we’re all itching to see.

As for the visitors, Jamie Vardy *shrug* is expected to start after missing out in the Foxes’ midweek European excursions. Well known to the Gunners, he’s scored ten in ten against the club throughout his career.

At the back there are concerns for Leicester, who will be without Caglar Soyuncu for a number of months. His absence in the defeat to Aston Villa saw Wesley Fofana make his club debut alongside Jonny Evans, with Wilfred Ndidi a long-term absentee. Ricardo Pereira continues to miss out following a cruciate ligament rupture.

Predicted Lineups

Arsenal: Leno; Bellerin, Luiz, Gabriel; Tierney, Partey, Xhaka, Saka; Pepe, Lacazette, Aubameyang

Leicester: Schmeichel; Castange, Fofana, Evans, Justin; Mendy, Under, Tielemans, Praet, Barnes; Vardy

Tough one to call. It really is.

On the one hand you have a side who started the season so well only to tail off drastically to the stage they’re at now, losing two home Premier League matches on the bounce, while in Arsenal’s case, their most convincing victory this season – bar Fulham because they don’t count – was actually against the Foxes six games ago.

Both sides secured victories in their Europa League excursions, although it was Leicester who recorded the more convincing three points. A 3-0 win at home to Zorya Luhansk was exactly what the doctor ordered having lost their two previous matches.

On home soil they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, which followed another home defeat to West Ham, this time 3-0.

Away from home they’re a different animal. Manchester City know full well, as do West Brom, and so will Arteta.

Silencing Vardy as much as feasibly possible will be paramount, but they have another pacey presence on the wings with Harvey Barnes, who won’t give Hector Bellerin a second to rest.

Normally I’d plump for a draw here, but even despite our last two home wins being far from convincing, I just feel the added steel both in defence and midfield will be enough to harness Leicester’s attacking prowess, thus setting the framework for a sneaky late win.

Next. Senior Omission. dark

Think the 1-0 home win back in 2017 where Nacho Monreal smacked one in via a huge deflection of Robert Huth. Yeah, something of that ilk, just hopefully less painful.

Score Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Leicester
