Arsenal are set for winter transfer battle.

Similarly with Dominik Szoboszlai, the number of sides keeping a keen interest on Arsenal targets during the January window is genuine cause for concern.

Their pursuit of the Hungarian forward eventually fell flat with RB Leipzig seemingly winning the tussle to secure his signature, one that left Arsenal, and half of Europe, forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Among those is a long-standing target of Mikel Arteta‘s: Houssem Aouar.

The situation in France is up in the air with major outlet Telefoot Chaine set to shut down, the channel that was supposed to pay French football €2.8bn over four years.

With Arsenal already supremely keen on Aouar’s signature, the possibility has emerged to sign cheaper than previously amid licensing issues.

That shouldn’t be the sole reason for the Gunners to move in; instead, their interest will remain because Aouar offers everything the squad simply doesn’t have.

A long-winded, back and forth summer saga ebbed and flowed with no one outcome assured, although the plug was pulled by Lyon at the final hour with Arsenal unwilling to meet the French side’s financial demands.

Reports in France, and elsewhere, maintain interest from north London, but the latest speculation suggests another grueling job faces the recruitment drive. No less than three major sides are monitoring the situation.
