Arsenal are in transfer season, linked with names across Europe.

Already there have been movements made to bring in one new face this January window, as 18-year-old central defender Omar Rekik closes in on a permanent deal worth £900k that failed to be completed in the summer.

Two players are being eyed up for January, a number born out of realism over necessity since the bodies required greatly exceeds two, with a central defender wanted alongside a creative midfielder.

Christian Eriksen and Isco have been mentioned as two who could match the latter. Both players would be foolish signings that once again abandon long-term strategy in favour of uncertain short-term gain. Who comes in to fill that void will be interesting, if not slightly unnerving.

But the latest murmurs suggest other areas are being looked at. Of course, transfer planning is usually years in advance, as scouts are sent worldwide to see first hand the development of certain individuals, one such player being Slavia Prague’s Abdallah Sima.

As per CalcioMercato, the Senegalese forward’s superb start to the campaign has caught the gaze of a number of European side, none other than Arsenal. It’s stated that while he’s yet to be watched in person by the Gunners, the forward has been added to their list ahead of in person scout viewing.

At any given time, clubs will have dozens of players being monitored. Sima being on the watchlist of clubs – including Juventus – will not become top priority, but indeed be one of many targets. However, his electric form this season, having only made his debut at the beginning of the currrent campaign has way beyond exceeded expectations.
