Why is Europe on Alert?
Sima has netted 13 goals in 18 outings this season, three coming in Europa League fixtures. That said, with any player making headlines in Europe, the quality of the league must be taken into consideration.
The Czech First League is not the best standard of football on the continent, and the gulf in class between the two Prague-based clubs, a smattering of others and the rest of the division is vast.
Still only 19, extremely raw and playing his first top-flight season, the hype beginning so soon is being helped along the way by an astronomical valuation from Slavia Prague boss Jaroslav Tvrdík.
Being dubbed ‘the next Thierry Henry‘ is beyond bold, and clearly with a view to boosting that price up even further than it already is.
Where Arsenal’s name has been thrown in the hat could be due to Sima’s strong aerial ability. Standing at over six foot, his leap is impressive, as too his heading accuracy, as noted with his six headed goals this term.
Pace in abundance, the centre-forward often finds himself playing out wide right, cutting inside and interchanging with his fellow forwards. He also finds himself at a club with a good track record, selling Tomas Soucek and Vladimír Coufal to West Ham recently as their European exploits have enhanced the already impressive talent on their books.
A priority for Arsenal? Certainly not. And absolutely not for the fee laid out by Tvrdík. Yet, continuing in the vein of form he’s in will see this rumour persist for a while longer.
