Team News

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was a surprise omission from the Everton defeat after it was only learned just before kick-off that he’d sustained a calf injury in the days leading up.

How long his absence will be rests on the progress made in the next 48 hours, as the problem could be a matter of days or even a couple of weeks. As it is, he looks sure to miss out on Tuesday.

Hector Bellerin played no part at Goodison Park but is available, while Granit Xhaka will serve the final of his three-match suspension for the visit of the Citizens.

Likewise, Gabriel Magalhaes has served his suspension and is back in contention, although he will likely be saved for Saturday’s clash with Chelsea.

In midfield, Thomas Partey remains unavailable and might not feature for the rest of the year, although there was welcome news with the return of Gabriel Martinelli from a six month lay-off.

The Brazilian came on for the final 20 minutes of the loss to the Toffees, providing some glimmer of hope for Arsenal at a stage where there is little to be joyous about.

City travel south with just Eric Garcia absent with a leg injury, although Sergio Aguero is not at full fitness despite making his own return from injury to feature on the bench against Southampton last time out.
