Arsenal need help from somewhere, could Santa be their saviour?

Running through the list of things Arsenal need, you’ll be hard pressed to find enough paper on planet earth to adequately scribble in them all.

On the pitch it stretches from a backup goalkeeper all the way to a free-scoring striker, while off the pitch, leadership and direction wouldn’t go amiss either.

Away from football entirely, an end to this dreadful year full of worldwide pandemics would help ease the pain that we already endure as per Arsenal Football Club. It’s fair to say, we’ll be happy to see the back of 2020.

Money would help drag the side and Mikel Arteta out of their slump, finance that would go some way towards giving the squad a major facelift and improving the overall quality that has been so lacking it’s landed Arsenal in 15th place in the Premier League table.

Santa, are you there?

We can’t expect monetary gain from Father Christmas this year, so what is the best gift Santa could provide Gunners fans this year? Nothing material is needed. We’re quite content with something else.

It’s got to be hope.

As Arsenal fans we’re all guilty of getting our hopes up in times of need. Whether it’s a certain player coming back from injury who will miraculously turn around our fortunes, or something as insignificant as rousing words from a star player on social media, we cling on to everything.

It also comes in the form of transfer rumours for players we’ve normally no chance of signing, building up our hopes towards an inevitable rival bidder coming in and beating Arsenal to the post. Unless it’s Napoli that is, their interest is always wholly welcome.

Indeed, in these troubling times for the Gunners, even said belief that respite is just around the corner has started to fizzle out amid the ongoing crisis the club has fallen into.

Like taking part in the latter stages of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, our lifelines are running out.

If we could finish December with a renewed sense of optimism and carry it over into the rest of the campaign, perhaps finally our predicament may start to dissipate. Give the players hope and we’ll follow suit. Together, with that backing, maybe Arsenal can rescue their season.

Please, Santa?
