Best Signing: Gabriel Magalhaes

Fairly straightforward, this one.

It could easily be Thomas Partey were it not for the Arsenal injury curse to strike down on him so soon into his Gunners career, leaving the door open for Gabriel Magalhaes to swoop in and collect the prize.

Just like Partey immediately showed himself to be the best midfielder at the club, the same can be said for the Brazilian in the centre-back role.

The more he plays the better he’ll get. A bargain buy.

Best Loan Star: Konstantinos Mavropanos

He hasn’t played all too much, but Konstantinos Mavropanos is earning rave reviews over at Stuttgart, being part of a side that are comfortably sitting seventh in the Bundesliga after 13 matches.

The Greek defender would have played more this season were it not for a torn meniscus, losing only one of the five matches played this season. He didn’t do too badly at the end of last season, either.

Worst Attempt at Goal: David Luiz

Watching David Luiz take countless free-kicks for Arsenal but hit row Z every time is one of the most frustrating sights to behold. It’s made worse when we see other members of the squad far more capable of just hitting the target, let alone scoring.

His free-kick pièce de résistance, however, came back in January during a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

But a couple of yards outside the centre circle, his woeful effort wouldn’t even have resulted in a goal if he was playing rugby.

It was so bad. Watch it back and weep…or laugh.
