Fiorentina Keen on Lucas Torreira Loan

As per La Nazione, Fiorentina’s sporting director, Daniele Pradè, has opened the case for Torreira. Previously involved at Sampdoria during the midfielder’s time there, Pradè sees the combative enforcer as an ideal addition to push La Viola up from their lowly bottom half standing in Serie A.

Back in mid-December the situation was brought to light, with Arteta stating it was a matter Edu Gaspar was dealing with.

"“Edu has been dealing with that situation, but again, when the market opens and we have the possibility to bring players in and get players out, whatever we have to do, we will discuss it,” Arteta said, as quoted by Metro."

What the Italian publication add is an openness from all three clubs to make the move happen: Fiorentina wanting the player, Arsenal eager for him to play and Atletico open to letting him leave early.

Regarding strategy, it’s imperative that Torreira plays regular football. He doesn’t appear to have any long-term future at Arsenal after Thomas Partey‘s arrival, and being moved on permanently in the summer is what the Gunners will be setting their sights on.

The longer he sticks around in Madrid and warms the bench the more his value will reduce, making the already expected financial hit Arsenal will have to make at the end of the season more vast. It’s quite clear Atletico won’t come in with a bid, whereas there are suitors across Italy who cherish his profile.
