As big as the Turkish club are, they aren’t on a financial par with Arsenal. Not even close.

They dished out no higher than £12.6m for their record ever transfer, which was paid to sign Dani Guiza back in 2008. All other signings are blown out of the water once Ozil arrives in Istanbul.

Yet with Arsenal bullish in their stance, the money will have to come from somewhere if Fener are to add Ozil into the squad and maintain their push for the Super Lig title.

To satisfy the German’s €5m-a-year (£4.5m) net salary, Turkish TV star, Acun Ilicali, will play a ‘huge’ role in financing the deal. Football.london state that the entrepreneur (he’s that too) was also a guest at Ozil’s wedding and is a close friend.

Money is money, wherever it comes from in this instance. Mikel Arteta may even start watching some of Ilicali’s shows if he helps finance the full six months’ wages.

Furthermore, Ilicali has given assurances to Ozil’s wife, Amine Gulse, that a new TV programme will be created on a digital platform for her. All in all, a fairly lucrative offer from the Turkish star.

As the days pass by the likelihood of a deal being finalised grows stronger. Never before has this stage been reached. All the YouTube ‘Best Skillz Ozil 4k HD’ will be hitting record numbers. And why not, time to reminisce fondly, not negatively.
