Arsenal Transfer Latest: Manor Solomon Interest
Who is Manor Solomon?
A forward who predominantly plays out on the left, Solomon has also featured on the right of attack as well as, occasionally, through the middle. That last part is what everyone is clamouring to know, isn’t it?
He’s been likened (of course) to former Shakhtar forward Douglas Costa, another name who will be familiar to Arsenal fans as he usually got linked with a move to north London. Where said likeness emerges is from his penchant for dribbling.
There is a certain rawness to Solomon’s style, where his natural ability with the ball at his feet can sometimes by classified as ‘off the cuff’. Obsessed with taking players on and running as soon as he receives the ball, his nimble frame and pace are a threat in wide areas.
This can result in him overplaying in certain situations, the kind of trait that will need to be nurtured over time. In the current campaign, he’s notched five goals and assisted once in 17 outings in all competitions, although only nine of those appearances came as a starter.
Manager Luis Castro is preferring to use him as an impact substitute while he fine-tunes some of the more tactical aspects of his game.
Reports suggest that the Ukrainian champions will part ways if their £25m valuation is met, a hefty fee for someone who is not a regular starter. At this stage all the talk is exactly that – even if Ukrainian journalists suggest otherwise.
We’ve heard a fair few rumours swirling around about who is on Mikel Arteta‘s list, and the likelihood is that Solomon will be one of many names mentioned. One to look out for, but not get too invested in just yet.
