Arsenal: Things to Know About Manor Solomon
Everything you need to know about Arsenal target Manor Solomon.
Credit where it’s due, Arsenal have acted quickly in the January transfer window in a bid to reshape for the squad for the rest of the season and beyond.
Edu Gaspar has already moved on Sead Kolasinac, William Saliba and Matt Macey this window, two on loan deals and the latter on a permanent switch. Despite that, work this month is far from over.
More are on their way out as outcast pair Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos edge closer to an early departure. The German is set to cut ties with Arsenal six months before his deal ends as Fenerbahce finalise the details of his move, while the Greek defender has a host of options to choose from as he follows suit.
Once these moves are completed there can be signings heading in the other direction, with Manor Solomon among those who’ve been heavily linked with Arsenal of late. As per The Guardian, initial talks have been held with the player’s camp, and while a move this window hasn’t been ruled out completely, the likelihood is that the summer will be when Arsenal strike.
Perhaps not as well known as the Emi Buendia‘s of this world, nor the Houssem Aouar‘s, below is a factfile on Solomon containing all the tidbits of information on who is is.
Who is Manor Solomon?
21 years old, Solomon is an Israeli international who has been capped for his nation all the way through from Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-21 up to senior level.
Predominantly a left-winger, he’s played across the forward line for his club Shakhtar Donetsk, whom he joined in January 2019 from Maccabi Petah Tikva.
When is Manor Solomon Under Contract Until?
Any deal for Solomon won’t come cheap, hence why Arsenal will have to shelve their plans until the summer when he could be at least marginally less expensive than in January.
Under contract until December 2023, finance will need to be made from player sales or freed up from temporary departures before Arsenal can put their money where their mouth is.
Are Other Clubs Interested in Manor Solomon?
Indeed they are. Atalanta have already seen a bid rejected for the forward last summer, one worth €20m, with their interest unknown whether to still be prevalent. It’s rumoured that Shakhtar may demand €5m-€10m more, although the rise in interested clubs could see that figure spike.
Leeds United have also expressed an interest in the 21-year-old, while Manchester City were close to agreeing a day all the way back in 2017, only for Solomon’s employers to double his asking price on the eve of negotiations.
