Arsenal Team News

Addressing the media ahead of Saturday’s crunch encounter, Arteta provided updates on five players.

Notable mentions were for midfield duo Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe, who were both forced off with what appeared to be cramp during the 3-1 win over Southampton.

Stating the pair both had ‘discomforts’ fails to provide supporters with any of their own comfort, as Partey and Smith Rowe are such vital components. Seeing how they get through the training sessions leading up to the weekend will be crucial. It’s fingers firmly crossed, although if it is cramp there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

In the case of Smith Rowe missing out, Martin Odegaard is set to be in the squad for Saturday as he nears his Arsenal bow. Training this week, he has no injury concerns and is only lacking match sharpness.

Another player without game time recently is Aubamayeng, who has been away from the squad to deal with a personal family matter. His mother is now feeling better and at home, so his inclusion will be based on fitness and his frame of mind.

Pablo Mari and Dani Ceballos are yet to take part in full training having both suffered calf problems. They look set to miss out. Aside from the above, it’s Kieran Tierney’s fitness that is causing concern, with him also thought to be a doubt for United.

If so, Cedric looks likely to resume his place at left-back, where he filled in adequately against the Saints.

For the visitors, they head to the capital with a clean bill of health in terms of first team regulars, with only Marcos Rojo, Facundo Pellistri, Brandon Williams and Phil Jones absent through injury. They are, sadly, well stocked.
