Arsenal: 6 January Transfers That Could Still Happen
Reiss Nelson Leaving Arsenal on Loan
Another player at risk of seeing little to no playing time for the rest of the season is Reiss Nelson. In a similar boat to Mustafi in that he isn’t even making matchday squads let alone playing, it’s vital that he departs and just starts playing.
The most likely destination – an exit appears inevitable – for the forward is the Championship, with a host of clubs said to be interested in securing him on loan. If you’re a second tier manager, you’d be foolish not to hold and interest either.
Nelson has got talent. In abundance.
Supporters will stress that it comes in inconsistent spells when he’s granted a chance in the Premier League, which is true, but a player of his age and in the position he plays, regular minutes and goal contributions will see his confidence sky rocket. When he’s comfortable in his role, as seen in the Europa League this season, he’s a dangerous opponent.
If it is the Championship where he ends up, then onlookers will get a proper glimpse at what he can do with a run of matches. Furthermore, if he tears the division to shreds it will provide a solid indication of whether he’s capable of doing likewise in the top-flight.
Ideally he’ll join a Premier League side, yet at this stage he just has to play football. Wherever that may be.
