Arsenal have provided injury updates on key duo Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka, who both missed out on the 0-0 draw at home to Manchester United in the most recent Premier League outing.

The Scot’s absence was expected given his issues in the build-up to the fixture, whereas Bukayo Saka was a surprise omission having suffered from a sore thigh in the hours leading up to kick-off.

In the end both players were missed but their presences weren’t as keenly felt as expected, as Arsenal put in a battling performance across the board and stretched their unbeaten Premier League run to seven matches.

With Wolverhampton Wanderers next up on the fixture list, both Kieran Tierney and Saka were largely expected to return. The left-back nearly featured against the Red Devils after having a late fitness test, while Saka was only left out as a ‘precaution’.

Arsenal provide worrying Bukayo Saka and Kieran Tierney injury updates

However, speaking to the media ahead of Tuesday’s clash, Mikel Arteta’s update suggests neither will feature.

"“We don’t know yet [if they’ll return],” he told the official Arsenal website.“Today we’ve got a training session and they haven’t been able to train with us yet, so I think it will be really difficult for them. But I don’t know, we’re going to try to last-minute see how they are feeling.”"

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was another absentee from the weekend, having been forced to undergo isolation protocols after going to see an ill family member. Arteta suggested he could be involved, although there are issues to solve beforehand.

"“There’s still some things to clear up,” he stated. “Maybe yes, maybe no. We don’t know. We’re still doing some paperwork at the moment.”"

Finally there was a word on Alexandre Lacazette, who was forced off late in the stalemate after a nasty collision with Harry Maguire. Receiving treatment for a number of minutes at the end of the game, he was eventually replaced with Eddie Nketiah.

There is good news in that regard.

"He concluded: “We have to follow the protocols, that we have to test him and make an x-ray. He was completely fine after the game, he was fine yesterday and he has slept well. I’m expecting him to be available.”"
