The January transfer window has only just closed and already the focus has shifted to the summer, where Arsenal are primed for another hectic period of activity. One of their targets, Manor Solomon, has just dropped a big hint about his future.

Considering their desperate need for a creative No. 10 during the window, Arsenal were linked to a surprising number of wingers. Norwich’s Emi Buendia, while fitting the creative mould, is not a No. 10, yet was the name on everyone’s lips during January. Him and many others.

A surprise one to emerge during that period was Manor Solomon. A wide player who is capable on either flank but prefers the left, it was widely reported that Arsenal were keeping close tabs on his future.

Due to finances being tight and the immediate needs over long-term desires, his acquisition was shelved until the summer when Arsenal are strongly tipped to make a bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk forward.

Arsenal target Manor Solomon confirms talks taking place with English club ahead of potential summer transfer

The 21-year-old has five goals and one assist this season and has an unwavering penchant for dribbling. On either foot, he loves the ball at his feet where heightened technical ability and a low centre of gravity make him a nightmare to dispossess.

Much of his ability is raw and need nurturing, but Arsenal have seen his potential. Speaking to Israeli outlet Sport5, it appears the Gunners are making their interest concrete.

"“There are talks with teams from England, there are things that can happen in the summer,” Solomon said.“My dream is to play in England and it also seems to me the most realistic option for me. And teams in England can pay.”"

While no names were provided for obvious reasons, due to to well-speculated interest from north London it’s fair to assume that Arsenal – and others – have began entering preliminary talks. A report from The Guardian went one step further back mid-January, claiming that their interest was with a view to making a summer offer.

Arsenal are stocked full of players in wide areas, although Reiss Nelson‘s Arsenal career is dwindling and Willian has fallen way below expected standards. Equally, Nicolas Pepe is only just starting to find form.

Whatever Arsenal bid will have to be substantial, since the Israeli international is tied down to Shakhtar until December 2023.
